Influencer Marketing Costs in India: Rates by Follower Size and Platform

Shreya Singh, Paid Media Analyst10 min read

What we found

An Instagram Reel from an Indian creator costs on average ₹2,000 at nano level (1K–10K followers), ₹10,750 micro, ₹55,000 mid-tier, ₹2,10,000 macro and ₹6,75,000 mega (over 1M). A 60–90 second YouTube integration averages ₹30,000 for a micro creator and ₹11,00,000 for a mega creator. A Story costs 37.5% of a Reel, and a dedicated YouTube video 2.5 times an integration. Paid campaigns average ₹825 per tracked order, a 1.21x ROAS on tracked revenue. Barter averages ₹660 per tracked order, and affiliate creators earn 11% commission.

What do Indian influencers charge per Reel or video?#

A micro creator with 10,000–100,000 followers charges about ₹10,750 for an Instagram Reel and ₹30,000 for a YouTube integration. Prices climb steeply above that. These averages, and the other benchmarks here, come from ProfitBox360 research, 2025 (client data and shopper surveys).

Creator tierFollowers or subscribersInstagram ReelYouTube integration (60–90 seconds)
Nano1K–10K₹2,000—
Micro10K–100K₹10,750₹30,000
Mid-tier100K–500K₹55,000₹1,35,000
Macro500K–1M₹2,10,000₹4,25,000
MegaOver 1M₹6,75,000₹11,00,000

These are averages, and one creator's quote can sit well above or below them. Views, engagement, niche, language and what else the deal includes all move the price.

The market behind these prices is growing fast. India's influencer marketing industry was worth an estimated ₹3,600 crore in 2024, according to The Goat Agency and Kantar's India Influencer Marketing Report 2025. The same report, published in June 2025, forecast 25% growth in 2025, which would add ₹900 crore.

Instagram Reels, Stories and posts#

  • A Story costs 37.5% of the same creator's Reel price: ₹375 for every ₹1,000 of Reel fee. Buy Stories as a reminder alongside a Reel rather than instead of one.
  • For a static post or carousel, ask for a separate quote. The averages here cover Reels and Stories.

YouTube integrations and dedicated videos#

  • An integration is a 60–90 second segment inside a creator's regular video. The averages start at 10,000 subscribers.
  • A dedicated video, where the whole video is about your product, costs 2.5 times as much as an integration.
  • Start with an integration to test a creator. Keep dedicated videos for products that need a full demonstration.

Costs on top of the creator's fee#

  • Usage rights: running a creator's content as a partnership ad from your own ad account costs about 40% of the content fee, or ₹400 for every ₹1,000.
  • Agency or platform fee: an agency or influencer platform charges about 17.5% of creator fees, or ₹17,500 on every ₹1,00,000 paid to creators.
  • Product and shipping: every creator needs the product, and you pay to send it.

What a first campaign costs#

Illustrative example: a skincare brand books micro creators through an agency for one month.

  • 8 Instagram micro creators, each paid the ₹10,750 average for one Reel, plus one Story at 37.5% of that Reel price
  • 1 YouTube micro creator for a dedicated video, at 2.5 times the ₹30,000 integration average
  • Usage rights at 40% of each Reel fee, so the brand can run the Reels as partnership ads
  • An agency fee of 17.5% on all creator fees, including usage rights

Stories8 × ₹10,750 × 37.5%₹32,250

Content fees₹1,93,250

Creator fees₹2,27,650
Agency fee₹2,27,650 × 17.5%₹39,838.75
Total₹2,67,488.75

Usage rights and the agency fee add ₹74,238.75, which is 38.4% on top of the content fees. Budget for both before you agree a creator list.

Check a quote before you accept it#

  1. Ask for screenshots from Instagram Insights or YouTube Studio covering the creator's last 10 posts. You want views and the audience's top locations.
  2. Work out the cost per 1,000 views: fee ÷ average views × 1,000. Compare creators on this, not on followers.
  3. Check that most of the audience is in India, and in the cities you deliver to.
  4. Compare the quote with the tier average in the table. If it's well above, ask what's included.
  5. Put the deliverables in writing: formats, number of Stories, posting dates, whether you approve the script, how long usage rights last and any exclusivity.

What cost per order do influencer campaigns deliver?#

Paid influencer campaigns average ₹825 per tracked order. At a ₹1,000 average order value, that's a 1.21x ROAS on tracked revenue.

ROAS = tracked revenue ÷ creator fees = ₹1,000 ÷ ₹825 = 1.21x

A tracked order is one placed with a creator's discount code or through their tagged link. The ₹1,000 blends ₹850 COD orders and ₹1,250 prepaid orders, with 62.5% of orders on COD. The ROAS counts creator fees only. Agency fees, products and usage rights come on top.

For comparison, the average Indian D2C brand spends ₹700 to win a new customer across all its marketing. Tracked influencer orders cost more than that, and they can include existing customers who use a creator's code.

Why tracked orders undercount#

Codes and links catch only the buyers who use them. Many people who buy because of a creator don't. They watch a Reel, search for the brand days later, buy on a marketplace or forget the code. So treat tracked orders and the 1.21x as the minimum a campaign delivered, not its full effect.

To see more of the effect:

  • Give each creator a unique code and a tagged link, so you can compare creators.
  • Ask new customers "How did you hear about us?" after checkout, with creator names among the options.
  • Watch branded searches and new-customer orders in the weeks each creator posts. A lift test, which holds back part of the audience, gives a cleaner answer.

What an agency fee does to cost per order#

Illustrative example: a brand pays creators ₹1,65,000 and gets the average result.

  • Tracked orders at ₹825 each: ₹1,65,000 ÷ ₹825 = 200
  • Average order value: ₹1,000
  • Agency fee: 17.5% of creator fees
MeasureCreator fees onlyWith agency fee

Tracked revenue₹2,00,000₹2,00,000
Cost per tracked order₹825₹969.38

The agency fee of ₹28,875 adds ₹144.38 to every tracked order. It brings tracked ROAS close to 1x.

Tracked revenue is counted when the order is placed, so some COD orders will come back as RTO and never become revenue. Judge the result against the ROAS your margins need, not against 1x.

Which costs least: barter, paid or affiliate deals?#

Affiliate deals cost least per tracked order: an 11% commission is ₹110 on a ₹1,000 order, against ₹660 for barter and ₹825 for paid campaigns. Each deal buys something different, so give each one its own job.

DealWhat you payWhen you payCost per tracked orderMain risk
PaidA fixed fee per postBefore or at posting₹825You pay whether or not it sells
BarterProduct and shipping, ₹925 per creatorWhen you send the product₹660Only 40% of creators post
Affiliate11% commissionAfter the sale₹110 on a ₹1,000 orderNo guaranteed post or reach

Barter: cheap per order, unreliable per post#

Only 40% of creators who receive a free product post about it. Each creator costs ₹925 in product and shipping, so each post costs ₹925 ÷ 40% = ₹2,312.50. That's more than the ₹2,000 average for a paid nano Reel, where the post is agreed in advance.

Illustrative example: a brand sends products to 50 creators at the average cost.

  • Spend: 50 × ₹925 = ₹46,250
  • Creators who post: 50 × 40% = 20
  • Cost per post: ₹46,250 ÷ 20 = ₹2,312.50
  • Spend on the 30 creators who never post: ₹27,750
  • Tracked orders at the ₹660 average: ₹46,250 ÷ ₹660 = about 70

Barter still averages less per tracked order than paid: ₹660 against ₹825. Use it to find creators who post willingly and sell, then pay them for the next round.

To lift the posting rate, ask each creator before you send anything. Agree one deliverable and a date in writing.

A gifted post still needs an ad label: ASCI lists "#Free gift" among its accepted labels and expects brands to make sure creators use the right one. The government's endorsement guidelines also count free products as a connection creators must disclose.

Pay a fixed fee when you need content on a set date, such as a launch or a sale. Paid is the only deal of the three where the creator is contracted to post. At ₹825 per tracked order, it's also the costliest on tracked sales alone.

Affiliate: pay only when a sale happens#

  • An 11% commission costs ₹110 on a ₹1,000 order, and nothing if nobody buys.
  • Pay commission on delivered orders once the return window closes, so COD orders that come back don't earn it.
  • Commission-only deals suit creators who already post about products like yours. Offer others a small fixed fee plus commission.

Which deal to use when#

  • Testing a new product on a small budget: send products to nano creators, then pay the ones who post and sell.
  • Launches and sales: pay for posts on fixed dates.
  • Always-on sales: move proven creators onto affiliate commission.

FAQ#

Should you pay an influencer before they post?#

Pay part of the fee upfront and the rest once the post is live and matches the brief. A split protects both sides. The creator knows the deal is real, and the brand keeps leverage if the post is late or off-brief. Agree the split, posting date and approval steps in writing before any product ships.

Is an influencer agency worth a 17.5% fee?#

Yes, when a brand runs many creators at once. At the Indian average of 17.5% of creator fees, an agency costs ₹17,500 on every ₹1,00,000 paid to creators. For that, it finds creators, negotiates, chases posts and collects results. A brand working with a handful of creators can usually manage them directly and keep the fee.

How many creators should a first influencer campaign use?#

Book several smaller creators rather than one big name, so you can compare results. At the Indian average of ₹10,750 per micro-creator Reel, nine Reels cost ₹96,750. Nine results show which creators, formats and messages sell. A single mega-creator Reel at the ₹6,75,000 average gives one result with nothing to compare it against.

How should you track sales from each creator?#

Give every creator their own discount code and their own tagged link, because each catches buyers the other misses. The code records buyers who type it at checkout, even when they arrive through search. The link records buyers who tap through from a Story or video description. Together they let you compare results creator by creator.

Can a brand negotiate a creator's rate card?#

Yes. Treat a creator's rate card as an opening price. Ask for a bundle, such as a Reel with two Stories, or a lower rate per post in return for a three-month deal. Bring evidence: if the creator's recent views are low for their tier, show the cost per 1,000 views and offer a fee to match.
